Leaders advance regional integration through renewed sustainability commitments and cross-border investment tools.

HOI AN, VIETNAM,  26 June 2026 – The leaders of ASEAN Exchanges, alongside guest exchanges from Lao PDR and Cambodia, gathered in the historic city of Hoi An from 24 to 26 June 2026 for the 39th ASEAN Exchanges CEOs Meeting. Hosted by the Vietnam Exchange (VNX), the meeting brought together leaders from Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Bursa Malaysia (BM), Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), SGX Group (SGX), and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), to advance a shared vision for deeper regional capital market integration.

A key milestone of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to officially welcome VNX into the ASEAN-Interconnected Sustainability Ecosystem (ASEAN-ISE) initiative – an integrated ESG ecosystem that combines infrastructure, sandbox capabilities, expertise, and partnerships to help ASEAN Exchanges and corporates advance sustainability, scale ESG adoption, and unlock business value.

To enhance regional market visibility and connectivity, the leaders furthered discussions on several core initiatives:

  • Market Visibility: Boosting the region’s profile to global investors through joint index development.
  • Cross-Border Investing: Expanding Depositary Receipts (DRs) to make trading across ASEAN borders more accessible for retail and institutional investors.
  • ASEAN-ISE: Advancing a harmonised regional ESG data ecosystem; ASEAN Exchanges have completed the the feasibility exercise on cross-market data alignment, paving the way for pilot programmes with key stakeholders alongside stronger assurance and governance.
  • Joint Roadshows: Enhancing the visibility of ASEAN listed companies through the Invest ASEAN Roadshow.

“Hosting this 39th meeting and joining the ASEAN-ISE initiative marks a pivotal step for Vietnam. By aligning our sustainability frameworks and cross-border mechanisms with our regional peers, we are unlocking incredible mutual value for investors and issuers alike,” said Mr Luong Hai Sinh, chairperson of Vietnam Exchange.

The ASEAN Exchanges reaffirmed their collective dedication to fostering an environment that supports economic growth and sustainable investment. Moving forward, the member exchanges are committed to transforming these strategic dialogues into tangible economic benefits, driving a more integrated, dynamic, and sustainable capital market ecosystem across the region.
