On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in collaboration with Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) organized a Capital Markets Seminar: “Roadmap to Additional Liquidity via Dual Listing” at IDX Main Hall. The event was held to strengthen the cooperation between IDX and HKEX after the signing of a memorandum of understanding in July 2023.
In an effort to cooperate in various strategic fields, IDX has been recognized as one of the “Recognized Stock Exchanges” by HKEX in November 2023. This indicates the opening up of partnership opportunities, strengthening connectivity and increasing liquidity of both markets. Not only that, this cooperation can provide opportunities for companies in Indonesia to expand their market, investor base, and liquidity through HKEX.
The seminar was opened with remarks from Ms. Risa E. Rustam (Director of Finance, Human Resources and General Affairs – IDX) and Ms. Katherine Ng (Head of Listing – HKEX). The seminar was filled with speakers from IDX (Ignatius Denny W. as Head of Business Development Division 2), HKEX (Jean-Francois Mesnard-Sense as Head of Exchange Traded Products, Christina Bao as Co-Head of Sales and Marketing, and Katherine Ng), Latham & Watkins Partners (Cathy Yeung, Terris Tang), SSEK Law Firm (Michael Scott-Carl as Foreign Counsel, Maria Yudhitama Eka Dewi as Senior Associate), and J. P. Morgan (King Ho as Co-Head of APAC, Depository Receipts Group). Topics discussed included matters related to exploring cooperation in products and listings between IDX and HKEX, including Exchange Traded Products (ETP), especially Exchange Traded Funds (ETF), dual-listing schemes for listed companies, along with supporting professions needed to carry out these corporate actions. The event was attended by 102 participants from listed companies, prospective listed companies and capital market supporting professionals.
Through this event, IDX hopes to participate in global market developments and various initiatives with HKEX and other global exchanges. This effort is made to increase attractiveness for international investors and improve market efficiency for the advancement of the Indonesian capital market.
