Jakarta/Belém – At the opening of the 30th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of Parties (UNFCCC COP 30) in Belém, Brazil, on Monday (10/11), Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) as the operator of Indonesia Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) together with the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH), hosted a dialogue session themed “Indonesia’s Carbon Market Outlook: Enhancing Indonesia’s Carbon Market Integrity and Transparency”. The session, which was part of the opening agenda of the Indonesian Pavilion on the first day of COP 30, shows Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening the integrity and transparency of the national carbon market at the global level.
At COP 30 which took place from 10-21 November 2025, the Indonesian Pavilion of Indonesian government serves as a forum for soft diplomacy and promotion of national climate action. The pavilion themed “Accelerating Substantial Actions of Net Zero Achievement through Indonesia High Integrity Carbon” the Pavilion reflects IDXCarbon’s vision to build a carbon market with the highest integrity. Throughout the conference, the Pavilion also hosted Sellers Meet Buyers session to connect prospective buyers with developers of Indonesian carbon projects.
To support the big theme of the Indonesian Pavilion and Sellers Meet Buyers session, IDXCarbon promotes a variety of projects from Indonesia that have been listed or are in the process of being listed on IDXCarbon. As of October 2025, the total volume of Carbon Units that have been listed at IDXCarbon reached more than 3.6 million tons of CO2e (before retirement). The listed projects on IDXCarbon include:
- PT Pertamina Power Indonesia with a geothermal renewable power plant project in Lahendong;
- PT PLN Nusantara Power with the combined cycle project (PLTGU) in Muara Karang Block 3, the conversion of the Combined Cycle Plant in Muara Tawar, and the Natural Gas-Fired Power Plant project of PLTMG Sumbagut 2 Peaker;
- PT PLN Indonesia Power with the Minihydro Power Plant (PLTM) project in Gunung Wugul, PLTGU Priok, and the conversion of the combined cycle (Add On) Power Plant in Grati; and
- PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV with its project that utilizing palm oil mill effluent (POME) for biogas co-firing.
In addition to the projects listed above, IDXCarbon is also showcase several projects that have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI)–a statement of commitment to listed all or part of the on IDXCarbon for wider accessibility for potential buyers. Projects that have signed LoIs include:
- PT Rimba Makmur Utama with the Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation project;
- PT Strata Pacific with the Seram Climate and Conservation (SERCOVA) project;
- Arsari Group with forestry projects in East Kalimantan;
- PT Bumi Hijau Konservasi with the Nunukan Mangrove Peatland project;
- PT Carbonx Bumi Harmoni and PT Citra Mulia Inti with the Sanggala Corridor project;
- PT Austral Byna with a forestry conservation project in Muara Teweh;
- CarbonEthics with the Pulang Pisau Peatland Restoration and Fire Prevention and Aceh Coastal Restoration and Blue Economy Sustainability projects;
- PT Biru Karbon Nusantara with the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Programme project;
- PT Pertamina Power Indonesia with the Sei Mangkei Biogas Power Plant project;
- PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) with afforestation and reforestation projects in Java, Soda Ash production project using CO2 from the Ammurea Plant in Pupuk Kaltim, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) from Ammonia production at Petrokimia Gresik, Pupuk Kujang Cikampek, Aceh, South Sumatra, and East Kalimantan. Also, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) from Blue Ammonia in Yamdena;
- PT PLN (Persero) with the Hydropower Plant project in Asahan III, the Hydropower Plant in Jatigede, and the IKN 50 Mwac (Solar PV) solar power plant;
- PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero) with a geothermal power plant project in Patuha;
- PT Supreme Energy with a geothermal power plant project in Rantau Dedap;
- PT Pupuk Kujang Cikampek with an energy efficiency project at the factory with the implementation of Variable Speed Drive (VSD);
- PT Pupuk Sriwijaya Palembang with an energy efficiency project at the factory with the implementation of Variable Speed Drive (VSD); and
- PT Azbil Berca Indonesia with energy efficiency projects at AEON Mall BSD and Deltamas, Pondok Indal Mall 2, and Puri Indah Mall. Also, energy efficiency projects at MRT Station of Dukuh Atas, Bundaran HI, Bendungan Hilir, Setiabudi, Istora, Senayan, and Blok M.
The total volume of credits for these projects reaches around 90 million tons of CO2e. This strong enthusiasm from project owners/developers indicates a high commitment to support Indonesia’s green transition through the carbon market and underscores the vast potential of Indonesia’s carbon credit supply. IDXCarbon continues to encourage the development of Indonesia’s carbon market through various initiatives.
